In Akubadaura we commemorate the International Indigenous Peoples Day and the Colombian Indigenous Peoples Week with voices from different parts of the country and Latin America.
As stated by the United Nations, in order to “publicize the needs of these population groups, every August 9 the International Day of Indigenous Peoples is commemorated in recognition of the first working meeting of the United Nations on the indigenous population that took place in Geneva in 1982″.
Colombia, in its 1991 Constitution, recognizes indigenous cultures, in the Constitution Colombia declares itself as a multicultural country, even so the gaps to access economic, social and cultural rights are enormous.
